The Pastor’s Desk: The Simple Solution to Administrative Chaos
/Are you a pencil and notepad person? Do you have too many spreadsheets that you can’t get your around? Or perhaps you have several sticky notes, with one as a reminder to call Sarah back which you can’t seem to find…
I don’t want to use the term ‘productivity software’, because this software actually re-organises your desk which allows you to be more present with your flock, with your colleagues, your community and with God’s Word.
The Pastor’s Desk
The Pastor’s Desk app is a solution to one of life’s biggest challenges: paperwork and administrative tracking. Pastor and CEO of JPIXEL, Justin Schultz wanted to take the stress out of administrative duties so ministry leaders can focus on making an impact in their communities.
‘When I sat down each month to complete my pastor’s report, I was forced to hunt down information from numerous sources to plan sermons, track member interactions, manage tasks, and generate reports. It took hours.’
Then inspiration struck and he created an all-in-one ministry software platform built by pastors, for pastors.
The app offers many features that will help pastors such as features like Pastoral Care Support for logging visits/prayers with reminders and also a Care Board for visualizing needs such as turning reactive care into proactive support.
‘This is a new resource that has been put out for pastors by pastors,’ said Lead Pastor Danny Quanstrom of Trinity Church in St. Louis, Missouri. ‘I’m excited about the monthly report feature that can take an inventory of all of your work over the past month to create a report for your church board.’
The app includes more features such as:
Sermon Outline Support: pastors can access lectionary readings, organize sermon series, build outlines with tools, and prepare thoughtful messages with scripture analysis and resources.
Ministry Task Management: the app helps clear the clutter, stay focused, and help keep track of projects, day-to-day ministry, and gain a simple system to stay organized.
Pastor’s Community Forum: This is a ministry network with a built-in space to connect with other pastors and ministry leaders from across the country (currently predominately the US). A place to ask questions, swap sermon ideas, share job openings, and post other church needs.
Pastoral Care Support: The Care Tracker in the Pastor’s Desk helps pastors stay on top of hospital and home visits, as well as phone calls and prayers.
Pastors say the app is easy to work with and is also vital for small to midsize churches to help them stay organized. Many are saying it fits in with the technology they currently use.
‘The Pastoral Care Board and how it synchronizes with my calendar has been a game changer for me. I cannot recommend it enough,’ said Pastor Justin Halder from the Dale Bible Church in Dale, Indiana.
Lastly the good news is the app is affordable for smaller churches with small budgets. It is $10.99 (approximately £8.30-£8.50) per month with no set up fees or other costs.
Schultz said the main reason he created the app is quite simple: practical tools free a pastor to focus on what we truly feel called to … ‘loving people, building community, and making an eternal impact.’
